Appointment of Honorary Consul of the Republic of Malta to Nice

Mr Pascal Perez was appointed as Honorary Consul of the Republic of Malta to Nice with jurisdiction over the departments of Alpes-de-Haute-Provence, Hautes-Alpes, Alpes-Maritimes, and Var on Tuesday, 2 June 2020. This after Malta’s Ambassador to France, H.E. Carmelo Inguanez, handed over the exequatur to Mr Pascal Perez during a ceremony held at the Embassy of Malta in Paris on Monday, 29 June 2020.
 
Mr Pascal Perez has a solid background in public affairs. He represents international companies of telecom, energy or pharmaceuticals sectors. As an economic consultant, Mr Perez implements economic conversion programs of places and private-public partnership.
 
The city of Nice is the seventh most populous urban area in France. It is the second-largest French city on the Mediterranean coast, and the second largest city in the Provence-Alpes-Cote d’Azur region after Marseille. The Maltese community has set-up ‘Les Amis de Malte – Alpes-Nice Cote D’Azur Var’, an association composed of Maltese people and those of Maltese descent living in Nice.
 
Malta now has ten Honorary Consuls in France (Bordeaux, Lille, Lyon, Strasbourg, Toulouse, Montpellier, Rouen, Tours, Marseille, Nice), and the latter will serve to strengthen the consular network in the south-east of France.
